Lady Hawks softball take fourgame series over El Paso CC

The Howard College softball team hosted El Paso Community College this past Friday and Saturday for a fourgame conference series matchup. The Lady Hawks dominated the series, winning all four games to open up WJCAC conference play.

The Lady Hawks opened up Friday's doubleheader with a five inning 10-run rule win over the Tejanas with a final score of 24-11. The Lady Hawks racked up a total of 19 hits for 24 runs and no errors. Howard College recorded a total of 12 RBI in the game. Howard College's Olivia Kuzminski had a big day at the plate as she went 3-for4 with four runs scored, an RBI and had two home runs in the game.

Several other Lady Hawk players had a big day at the plate.

Madison Dingman went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and a RBI. Natalie Gutierrez went 3-for-3 with four runs scored, 2 RBI, and a home run. Samantha Cervantes went 2-for-3 with four runs scored.

Adrianna Phillips earned the win for the Lady Hawks in the circle as she pitched for three and one-third innings. Phillips gave up 10 runs on 11 hits and four walks. Howard relief pitcher Rose Flores pitched for one and two-third innings giving up one run on one hit and one walk.

The second game was high scoring but was much closer than the first, as Howard College walked away with a 16-13 win over the Tejanas. Once again the Lady Hawks bats were on fire as they recorded 18 hits for 16 runs including a total of seven home runs. Madison Dingman led the charge going 3-for-4 with four runs scored.

Samantha Cervantes went 2-for-3 with three runs scored , a RBI and had two home runs in the game, while Lisa Ayala went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, a RBI, and a home run. Several other Lady Hawks players had home runs in the game including Delaney Lindstrom (2), Renee Sena, and Olivia Kuzminski.

Rose Flores earned the win for Howard College in the circle. Flores threw for three and two-third innings giving up five runs on seven hits, with one walk and one strikeout.

The Lady Hawks would close out the four-game series by winning Saturday's doubleheader over El Paso Community College. Howard College won 10-5 in the first game and 10-2 in the second. The Lady Hawks out hit the Tejanas 23-12 while scoring a total of 20 runs over the two games.

Howard College (13-13, 4-0) will be back in WJCAC conference action this Friday & Saturday as they get ready to take on Western Texas College in a four game series. The Lady Hawks will travel to Snyder on Friday for the first doubleheader and will host Western Texas on Saturday to complete the four-game series.
